π Summary
Enhanced Access appointments are those provided on evenings and Saturdays, for patients who are unable to find a convenient time slot to see their GP within usual working hours (Monday to Friday, 9-5). They also provide additional capacity for delivering routine services (e.g. cervical smears).
Mon-Fri: 18:00-20:00 (for Nurse), 16:00-20:00 (for GP)
Sat: 09:00-17:00
14 GP slots and 14 nurse slots available on weekdays, doubled on Saturdays.
No specific criteria, but patients requiring physical examination/observation/procedure should ideally be able to attend a F2F appointment

Practice Nurse Appointments
15 minute appointments
β What this service does
- Dressings and suture clip removals (note that patients must bring their own supplies)
- Injections e.g. B12, zoladex (note that patients must bring their own supply)
- Routine childhood imms (double appointment needed for first set of primary imms and 12 month imms)
- Routine adult imms e.g. shingles, pneumococcal
- Cervical screening

- Chronic wounds / leg ulcers
- Coil fitting / contraception
- Phlebotomy
- Health checks (book HCA appointment)
- Travel health
- LTC reviews (book specific LTC appointment)
HCA Appointments
30 minute appointments
- Diabetes review part 1 (blood test, foot check, BP, height and weight)
- New patient health checks
- NHS health checks
- Phlebotomy
Nurse / ANP LTC Appointments
30 minute appointments
- Diabetes review part 2
- Interim review (HbA1c >60)
- Insulin start or titration
- Hypertension/asthma/COPD reviews
- Any appointment not related to an LTC
GP / ANP Appointments
- Usual scope of service from GPs and ANPs
- Referrals (including 2WW, routine and urgent referrals)
- ANP will see adults only
- LTC reviews (book specific LTC appointment)
- See patients with long term, chronic and enduring health problems
- See palliative care patients with advance care planning needs
- See patients registered with Safe Haven service
- See patients with serious mental health issues or who require continuity of care
- See patients seeking pharmaceutical assistance for substance or alcohol misuse
- Private medicals & home visits
- Long term/chronic medical/fit certificates
- All non-core NHS letters (e.g. housing benefits)
- Any non-core NHS services (e.g. travel imms or medicals)
- Psychiatry UK referrals
- Medication reviews
