🌐 Summary

The Mental Health service provides evidence-based support for patients with low-level mental health needs, who are unable to engage with/unsuitable for IAPT services. The team consists of Dr Jay Bowden (GP Lead for Mental Health), Charlton Baptiste (Mental Health Practitioner), and Arrvind Moheeput and Emily Yui (Mental Health and Wellbeing Coaches).

📍Waldron Health Centre

Mon-Fri, 09:00-17:00. Sat, 09:00-17:00

📍EA at Mulberry Hub

Wed, 17:00-19:30

Please note that a 1 hour appointment is required for an initial assessment/screening, whereas a 30 minute appointment is required for follow-up

Referral criteria

Inclusion

Aged 18-65

Experiencing common mental health problems, stress, relationships, social anxiety, low self-esteem, low confidence

For ages 12-17: đŸĢMulberry Hub

Exclusion

Severe mental health disorder

At risk of suicide and/or harm to self and/or others

Currently in treatment with:

  • secondary mental health services
  • substance misuses services
  • therapy or counselling services

How to refer

👤For GPs:

👤For PCMHT:

Contact Mental Health Practitioner via email/discuss directly

👤For ARRS:

Email Mental Health Practitioner and/or Mental Health and Wellbeing Coaches

Referrals must include NHS and/or EMIS number, brief description of current problems, reason for referral, and any known risk factors

✅ What this service does

  • Assessment for patients with low level mental health needs
  • Mental Health Practitioner support (care/support plans for patients with complex or multiple mental health problems, short-term interventions, onward referrals to/collaboration with PCMHT and local mental health services)
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach support (low intensity mental health coaching interventions, group interventions (e.g., art groups), signposting to local services and self-help resources)
  • Encourage self-management of mental health

❌ What this services does not do

  • Support patients specifically requesting therapy or counselling
  • Long-term support
  • Support patients with high risk or serious mental health needs, or a drug and/or alcohol dependence problem
  • Crisis management or support
